Who may borrow
Library cards are free to all Schuylkill County residents. To obtain a library card, a patron must show identification which includes a current address. Children 12 years and under must have a parent or guardian co-sign the application. Non-residents may obtain a card by paying a non-resident fee of $6.00 per year. Cardholders are responsible for all materials borrowed on their cards.
Circulation
The library staff, assisted by volunteers, will be happy to help you obtain a library card, check out materials, place holds on items in use by other patrons or otherwise meet your informational needs. To further assist you we have interlibrary loans which provide access to materials not owned by the Tri-Valley Library. Materials are borrowed from participating local, state and national libraries. Available to all library users, the service is usually free of any extra charge. Students are asked to use their school library before using Interlibrary loan service.
Computer Lab
There are five computers connected to the Internet for public use which also print to a common printer. Our computers are up to date with Windows 10 and office programs. We also have wireless in limited areas.
Copy/Fax Machine
A photocopy and fax machine is located at the circulation desk and we will be glad to make copies or send faxes. Copies are $.25/copy and faxes are $2.00 for first five pages and $1.00 for each additional page. Also, a microfilm reader is available on the second floor.
Large Print Books
Popular fiction books, printed in 18 point type for people with impaired vision, are found on the main floor, next to the fiction section.
Local History
A local history collection is available for research. This collection includes information about the Tri-Valley area, Schuylkill County, family genealogy books, books on mining, books on the Molly Maguires and books by local authors.
Periodicals
Current subscriptions to magazines and selected back-issues, along with subscriptions to several newspapers can be found on the main floor. Additional back issues of magazines are available upon request for research.
Programs
The library offers occasional free programs of general interest to the community. In addition, preschool storytime programs for children ages 3 to 5 are held for a six week period in the spring and fall. We also have a summer reading program for children in grades K through six which runs from June to mid-August.
